This course aims to couple fundamental ecology and environmental science knowledge with embodied environmental engagement rooted in Black culture. Reading da Land will offer opportunities to understand the basics of the sciences of ecology and the environment, and their cultural context in Black life. With local educators and practitioners, we will learn how to be in right relationship with the natural world through hiking, foraging, wildlife identification and medicine making, ultimately learning how to read the land like our ancestors.
